Volunteering with Bank.Green

Although we are beginning to fundraise, we are still currently led by volunteers! If you would you like to extend your climate impact beyond talking to your bank or switching to a greener alternative, we would love for you to join our team! Below we describe various roles that you may be able to help us with, depending on your background and availability.

If any of them interest you, do reach out to volunteers@bank.green, attaching a copy of your C.V. and letting us know about your availability! We are still a small team and receive a lot of enquiries, but we will do our best to get back to you, even if we feel it may not be the best fit.

Mid/Senior Backend Engineer (Python Flask)

Bank. Green is looking for a mid or senior level backend developers to contribute to a LLM-assisted bank policy analysis project. This product is built in Flask with SQLAlchemy, Llamaindex, and a PostgreSQL backend, deployed on Azure. This dev team currently consists of two senior developers (Frontend and Backend) and a mid-level UX/UI designer. Team members maintain a Linear issue board and generally have a good flow loosely following SCRUM ceremonies. This is a 5-20 hour commitment. Have a look at our product roadmap and culture presentation and email volunteers@bank.green with your resume and/or github profile if you would like to get involved.

Communications Team Member

The Bank.Green team maintains social media accounts, a blog, and an active contact page. We are looking for someone to help us manage these channels. On social media, that includes reaching out to our partners and occasionally teasing bad banks about their policies. On our blog, that includes writing or editing posts about sustainable finance. More generally, it includes drafting and finalizing content calendars and coordinating text and graphics for content pushes.

Some background in finance can be helpful but is not at all required. This is a 5-20 hour per week commitment. Please feel free to reach out to volunteers@bank.green to get involved, including a resume, social media links, writing sample, or small portfolio if possible.

Content Writer

We are expanding on our vision this year to become the "go-to" online resource green personal finance. As such, we're intending to put out a lot more articles around all aspects of this topic, empowering our visitors to make more climate-friendly choices with their money! If you'd like to help with this effort and can commit 3 or more hours per week, email volunteers@bank.green to get involved.

Bank Research Team

Bank.Green would like your help finding and sharing information about banks. Tasks include investigating bank lending policies and practices, publishing and maintaining bank pages, and distributing information to relevant activist groups. Our team maintains a database of 55,000 banks, with only 588 are visible on our website. We would love if you could help us grow this number!

This is a 10-40 hour a week commitment requiring good general, computer, communication, and organisational skills. Some knowledge of accounting, auditing, or finance is helpful. Email volunteers@bank.green with your resume or CV if you would like to get involved.

If any of these roles are of interest to you, either fill out this form (research team only) or email volunteers@bank.green, attaching a copy of your C.V. and letting us know about your availability! We are still a small team and receive a lot of enquiries, but we will do our best to get back to you, even if we feel it may not be the best fit.
